001. An Invitation

Would You Spend a Day with Jesus?

John 1:35 - 39

The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. When he say Jesus passing by, he said, "look, the Lamb of God!"

When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?"

They said, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"
"Come," he replied, "and you will see."

So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him. It was about the tenth hour (late afternoon).

God wants to extend to you an invitation to come into His presence. He simply wants to get to know you. Like an eagle whose egg was displaced in a chicken pen, you entered a world that wants to entice you to get caught up in it's 'stuff'! It is interesting how much of our identity is wrapped up in this 'chicken world'. We are conditioned to believe that the ache in our human heart can be satisfied by following a specific formula. Our sceintific and analytical approach to life puts us large and in charge. We control our destiny! We control what happens in our life!

What is it about us as human beings that we get so busy, so preoccupied that we don't have time to look up and contemplate that we might be designed for something much different than the chicken story that our life is playing out! Have you ever felt that there is more to life than you are currently experiencing? Of course you have! It is sad that when we acknowledge the empty feeling inside we crank up the noise in our life. Instead of listening for the still small voice of God trying to capture our imaginations to a world bigger than the one we can see, we will allow everthing and anything to distract us from the truth!

God's desire is that He can capture your attention long enough to look up and see Him. the greatest yearning in your heart is not to have a better 'chicken' life but rather to enter into an upper romm to experience an encouter with the resurrected Lord. To realize for the first time that there is a power in the universe that can pull you above the 'chicken' stink of this world and help you be transformed into a resurrected, new life person.

To be in that upper room is to acknowledge that you are in the presence of your creator and master designer. By seeing god face to face and hearing the rythem of His Spirit one can soar above the downward spiral of this world. Image coming 'home' after an extended stay in a foreign land. You are greeted on the road by an amazing Father, who gives you bear hugs and proclaim to everyone that a party is about to happen! Can you hear the music? Can you hear the celebration?

A sail boat with a lowered sail and anchored to the security of the dock will never unlock the real secrete of an amazing life. Stuck in the muck of a chicken coop and fearful to move into a new world with a new story, you find yourself look yet again for another formula that will fix all the aches in your soul. Your were meant to soar with God but the comfort of living in this chicken world has captivated your soul and caused it to become satisfied with less. Don't rock the boat and everyone can pretend to be 'happy'!

But what if there is a different way to live? Come follow Jesus and you will discover a truth about yourself that you have never seen before. Come follow Jesus and you will discover a truth about the world you live in and catch on to the fact that there really is more to life than you are currently experiencing. By follow Jesus you have nothing to loose and the possibility of finding a most amazing new story for your life on this planet! Are you ready? Here we go!
